Barbara O. Crout, R. EDT and Charles W. Flicek developed Nerve Conduction Studies From A to Z to provide electrodiagnostic technologists with clear and concise information applicable to the tasks performed in the EMG Laboratory. The book has been endorsed by the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (AAET) and is published by and can be ordered through the American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists (ASET).

Curriculum

The curriculum begins with fundamentals, such as Basic Electrical Theory, NCS Instrumentation, NCS Anatomy, and NCS Physiology; progresses through NCS Basics, Common and Uncommon Studies, and Diseases and Disorders of the Peripheral Nervous System; builds to the higher cognitive levels, including Protocol; and leads, ultimately, to a solid knowledge base upon which the trainee is prepared to develop practical skills in a formal On-the-Job Training (OJT) program.

Training Approach

This self-study training manual was designed using proven instructional techniques to allow the trainee to master knowledge items through the use of self-study modules written in logical, structured, and user-friendly formats.

Learning objectives state the expected trainee outcome upon completion of each module.

Over 80 graphics and figures illustrate and enhance concepts presented in the text. As applicable, actual NCS waveforms are used to illustrate both normal and abnormal responses.

Criterion-referenced evaluation exercises at the end of each module provide immediate feedback to the trainee.
